There are some strange things that happen in our fair city – Mayors telling school kids his favorite pastime is drinking gin, hookers forming unions, holes in the desert – you name it, we’ve either had it, got it, or will probably get it before long. One thing I have not seen yet is Las Vegas Boulevard being used as a runway…

Last night, we had some very typical (for this time of year) strong, gusty winds around the valley. Being a private (student) pilot, myself, I’m always watching the planes come and go as I go about my day or night around town.

Historic Pioneer Saloon Takes a Serious Hit

Feeling a bit under the weather yesterday afternoon, due to a bit of the ol’ cocktail flu, I decided to drive out to Goodsprings, Nevada with Nick the Good to have a beer at the old Pioneer Saloon

I don’t think that Nick’s been south out of the Las Vegas Valley in the few months he’s been living here, so this was a nice little outing, though it’s just a short 20 mile drive or so. I’d been out to see the Pioneer Saloon once before but it was a little early in the afternoon and it wasn’t yet open. Yesterday we showed up and things were a little different altogether…

Whoops! There Goes My Skirt!

Every Spring, just like every other town, Las Vegas gets some changing weather patterns. Sometimes in March, usually in April, things shift and it warms up slightly, and it just gets really nice. Somewhere in that whole process the wind changes direction and starts blowing. It doesn’t get breezy, it gets nuts.

Less Than 1 Month to Go…

The time we’ve all been anxiously awaiting since then end of last September is finally almost upon us: April 29th, 2007. Yes, that’s right – opening day of Rehab 2007. I don’t have any information on who is playing opening weekend, but it hardly mattes – everyone around here I know has mentioned it and the party’ll be off the hook if a Vegas lounge act headlines doing Milli Vanilli covers (is that redundant?) So here’s a little reminder to start shopping for boardshorts or just the right bit of gyno-floss… the Las Vegas your mother warned you about is about to arrive in all its splendor!
