I realize that vengeance is not a emotional drive one should attempt to exude upon inanimate objects. Okay, well, this object isn’t 100% completely inanimate to start with, and to be honest, I think it might have developed enough artificial intelligence to make this battle, nay, war, personal.

I eat my last meal of the day at odd hours. Sometimes midnightish, sometimes 3 or 4am… Las Vegas has tons and tons of restaurants but the good ones tend to close by 11pm or so, maybe midnight on the weekends. One place that I enjoy eating at fairly regularly is Grand Luxe Cafe, which is inside the Venetian.

Cards, candy, flowers and flirting… and unbelievable amounts of freeway traffic!?!@? I don’t know if it was that everyone was trying to run around after work yesterday and pick up a gift for their boyfriend or girlfriend or if everyone left work at precisely the same time, but the freeways were unimaginably bad yesterday. Liz and I decided that since getting around town was so horrible and since we’d gone to Delmonico only a couple of weeks ago that yesterday it would be nice to order some Italian take-away, get a few bottles of wine, and the makings for dessert and stay at home and watch Lost..

Five Suggestions a Las Vegas Cabby Probably Won’t Ever Make

Cabbies in Las Vegas are usually only interested in suggesting entertainment that they have a vested interest in. They get kickbacks from clubs, et cetera, when they drop off a fare at the establishment, in addition to the cab fee and tip. This is not a slight to the cabby – it’s simply the business they are in. If you press them for suggestions for dining or atypical entertainment I’m sure they’ll come up with something for you, but I decided to make a quick list of a couple of things I enjoy here in Las Vegas that a cabby would probably never think to suggest to you…

One Less Sin in Sin City? Maybe Not Just Yet…

I don’t smoke – I never have. I’m allergic to it. It’s nasty and really bothers me to smell it, particularly when I’m eating food. That having been said, I personally felt like banning smoking in all public places in Nevada that served food and were not casinos – an outright ban, mind you, not a non-smoking dining area – was just a bad idea. People who visit here tend to be completely caught up in the spectacle that is the Las Vegas resort corridor/Las Vegas Strip area, and really aren’t privy to the other areas of the gaming industry that live and thrive here in the Valley – an industry that is very much a part of the Las Vegas lifestyle for many people.
