I have to confess: it’s been too damned long since I’ve been out clubbing. I’ve been working, somewhat feverishly, on a business project involving multiple websites and I just haven’t been able to take the breaks that I require of myself to go out. Why? Oh, because I drink like a fish, and as a result, one night turns into two or three days of seriously reduced productivity.

Sooooo… Tiffany hit me up today and wanted to go out – neither of us had really be “out” since my birthday back in October, so I couldn’t hardly resist. Working in Las Vegas’ traditional industry tends to mean getting off and starting your “evening” at slightly odd hours – nothing new there – so until Tiff got off tonight arounde 1:30AM, Nick and I met up with Christopher Nolan at Blush inside Wynn Las Vegas for some drinks. Wow! I’ve never seen so many quarter machines inside the Wynn (or Bellagio or any other high-end resort/casino) before. In fact, there were nickel machines, and a number of machines that let you bet in two cent increments, with a max bet of many, many multiples of that, of course. It seemed like the biggest portion of the casino floor was populated by quarter machines, though, and as far as I am concerned, hats off to Mr. Wynn for making adjustments to his normal business strategy to contend with the recession (WYNN has taken a good beating as part of the gaming sector, but is faring better than just about anyone that sector, due in large part to its property in Macau.)

Anyhow, Blush was a decent start. The drinks were solid. When Tiff got off work, though, we left for the Palms.

Let me just say – the changes at Rain at the Palms are subtle, but very effective, starting with the Mad Max-looking dancers hanging from the ceiling. DJ Dan and Donald Glaude were just going off, like they were playing at a friend’s after party and there were no rules, and a good time was had by all. Locals are free, if you mention the right promoter’s name (email me for details,) and at full price, it’s probably worth the scenery, alone. That’s the thing about Las Vegas – a simple dance club outing might be slightly more pricey than you are used to at home back in Iowa, but you generally get extra eye candy you just won’t see anywhere else. Period. Pay the price and don’t even sweat it – have a good time.

Later we went by Studio 54, for 54 After hours. DJ Jeff Bomb tore it up. I love it when I feel like I can’t do anything with my legs and ass but dance, and that’s what I got at 54 tonight, regardless of the relatively small late night crowd. ‘Nuff said.

I really can’t imagine living anywhere else. Outside of New York City, complete with long, intermittent subway rides, there’s no way you could have this much fun in this many different environments – to say nothing of it being essentially free – in one night. Logistics just wouldn’t allow it. Now that Vegas is on discount, if I didn’t already live here, I couldn’t imagine taking a short, sweet vacation anywhere else. Viva Las Vegas, baby!

Wait, are we talking about the same rain? If so, then I totally agree with you when I say MAN that place is sick!! Went there for a bachelor party and it was nothing less than crazy. Awesome atmosphere, and the VIP Passes came in handy ;) lol. I heard Will.I.Am. is playing there this Friday wish I could go but I’m stuck in New York :/
