Sundays Last Forever…
No doubt about it, Summer is quickly approaching. That doesn’t change that fact that it’s been pretty chilly at night for the last week and the highs have been amazing temperatures – like 76, 78, 80 degrees. Absolutely perfect weather. Perfect that is, unless you spend every Sunday partying like a rock star at the Hard Rock pool at Rehab.
It was an itty bit nipply when we arrived at our designated river location and since the Ketel One girls were pouring heavy-handed amounts of Citroen into large cups of lemonade and giving them out for free, Christopher Nolan, Liz, and myself naturally enjoyed the benefits of arriving early.
Bravo, Nick and the rest came rolling through the door pretty quickly. Not more than twenty feet away there were still more samples, this time of frozen, fresh berry or banana drinks. I wisely chose berry. Everyone else had the banana but I knew mine was better. Berry rules and this had fresh blackberries in it as well.. mmm MMM We mostly just walked around for a bit.. Talking, taking our time sipping drinks before taking off the clothes and getting out the sunblock…
We hadn’t been there for very long, though, before the sun rose over the hotel and it warmed up just enough to be comfortable. We also discovered that the hotel management had done us a favor and turned on the pool heat enough to take most of the chill out of the water. Tiffany showed up after missing opening weekend in Miami, as did Kevin, and a good time was had by all, at least for a starting weekend. Okay, who am I kidding? There were definitely a few fuzzy spots in my memory. We’ve got to pace ourselves a bit – it’s early still!
“What do you mean by ‘pace ourselves,’” you ask? Well, I mean that with friends still showing up at my house in the afternoon on Monday and unslept adventures on tops of mountains and walking through caves in total darkness only to have a stranger show up on said mountain claiming to have no “reverse” and really needs my assistance… that’s a bit much for week 2. Kristin was convinced he was about to chop my head off and sell them into slavery or something but all was well. I finally slept around midnight Monday. So yeah, that’s what I mean by pacing ourselves. Today is all about eating really good-for-you foods, lots of fruits, and catching up with emails, blogs, and other things that have been put on hold since Saturday. Next week will be a lot less adventurous and taxing, I’m sure…. Yeah. Right.
