Stealing Rich Men’s Shrimp at The Palms

The changes at The Palms Hotel and Casino, with the exception of the new condominium tower, are now complete. The last change in the process was the completion and opening of The Pearl on Saturday night, featuring a live performance by Gwen Stefani and appearances by a number of celebrities.

We’d promised some photos from the red carpet at the event. Unfortunately, the red carpet at this event was a staged area inside of the ballroom next to The Pearl and since we didn’t know that ahead of time we hadn’t requested proper press credentials, alas. At special celebrity events there in the past, such as CineVegas, the red carpet has been a very open affair. I’m sort of kicking my own ass for that one, but we did enjoy drinks and stealing the Maloofs’ shrimp cocktail in The Mint Lounge. I mean, yeah, it was completely cheap of us but they looked so good and Papa and Son Maloof only eaten like one of them.. they were the biggest shrimp I’ve had in a long time!

It really was all Princess Elizabeth’s fault! We were all drinking some bad ass martinis and they came in with three ladies and taunted us with their seafood by not even eating it, then left to go do who knows what. They just sat there, talking to us.. “eat me.. I’m so cold and delicious.. I’m all alone with no one to enjoy me… I’m good with cocktail sauce.. ” Elizabeth was tipsy and thought how wonderful an idea this was. So before you know it, she, Nick the Good, and myself had cleaned the platter! Thanks Misters Maloof! We love your shrimp and your Hotel-Casino!

The place is looking really good, though. This isn’t the first time that I’ve gone to the Palms and just hung out drinking in The Mint Lounge. Britney makes some really good cocktails and is cute to boot! (tell her Christopher from While Las Vegas Sleeps… sent you!) They’ve recently opened the new Bistro Buffet there. Smells good, but I don’t do buffets very often. I’ll give it a shot at some point, though, I’m sure. I’m not sure exactly when the condo tower will be complete, but they are making a lot of progress on it. They’ve also begun building some elevated connecting walkway from the new tower to the side casino entrance near the theater. This city is perpetually under construction, ala a webpage from 1996, but I’d love to see a lot of completion soon. *crosses fingers*

    BAH! They hadn’t even touched them… or else I wouldn’t have even stole them. Man oh man they were good. I don’t feel bad at all! I would have felt bad if they went to waste. Lord I sound like poor trash. I would have had my own platter and paid for them but they didn’t serve food over there to underlings.

    You forgot to mention when I walked into the casino I got to see Nicky Hilton in the flesh! Well she had clothes on.. but was kinda dressed down. Damn that girl is short! I would have never known it..

    I have some beef with the Palms… Last year I tried to get one of their green limos for the evening and they told me that they were for guests only! Can you believe that shit? I have to stay at their hotel (and probably be a high-roller, it sounded like they only had one or two that were green) in order to use their green limos. BAH! This year though… THIS YEAR, I will figure out some way to get one of those for an evening, or at least for a trip from wherever I am to one of the parties…

    Hey, you’re a “hip, happenin’ Vegas guy”… why don’t you scheme on that for me as well (:
