NAB 2007 Exhibition Opens Today
The National Association of Broadcasters Convention is a huge annual show in Las Vegas, one of the biggest if not the biggest we host here. People from around the world in the radio, television, and film industries come into town to either exhibit or view the latest in production equipment and systems, the most advanced that the industry has to offer. For our part, Las Vegas gets a huge influx of tourists spending those lovely expense accounts. Mmmm per diem [Homer Simpson voice.]
I missed NAB last year, but two years ago I went to the exhibition. This thing is just unbelievable. It takes up every building at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It also takes up space at the Hilton’s Convention Center, the LVCC’s main parking lot, and probably a bunch of other space around town that I never knew about. I spent all day and felt like I hadn’t seen a tenth of the thing.
What kind of products are on display you ask? Well, they had new jet-based helicopters in the building with high definition camera packages attached to the bottom in a robotic housing for television and film production. That’s helicopters, as in, plural. They had video screens of a size and quality I wasn’t aware existed. I’m pretty excited to go back through there this week and see how things have progressed since two years ago.
Welcome to Vegas, NAB..
