The Roller Coaster Ride That Wouldn’t End
Apparently early this evening riders on the Sahara’s Speed: The Ride roller coaster got a little more than they bargained for. Ladder firetrucks had to be called out to the Sahara Hotel and Casino to get sixteen people off of the ride that were stuck in the coaster cars just before the big loop.
The riders all said that the ride slowed down before the loop and moved backwards until it came to rest where they were rescued. There was obviously a malfunction, but the news reports have said that the ride actually functioned exactly as it should have under the circumstances. Apparently there was a power abnormality with a breaker of some kind and the ride shut itself down as it was supposed to as a safety measure. Nice to know the safety failsafe measures work on those things!
It could have been worse, though: It could have shut off once they were in the middle of the loop. It would have been a lot harder to get them down where the track isn’t so close to the ground.
I think I’ll be skipping Speed: The Ride for awhile
